My name is Judy Erlichman. I have been operating True Companion Pet Sitting and working as a professional pet sitter since 2007. I had, however, been pet sitting for several years prior to making pet sitting my profession. My pet sitting service has evolved over the years, starting off by first taking care of pets belonging to friends, then word of mouth, and eventually building up to a full-fledged business.
My background is in animal rescue (both as an individual and with an organization), and my husband Gary and I have fostered and placed more than 50 dogs into loving homes over the years. Our energies are focused elsewhere these days, but we will never turn a blind eye to an animal in need. We will occasionally post photos and bios of animals needing permanent homes. You will also find information about organizations and businesses that I believe make a difference in the lives of animals.
My background in rescue as well as the experience I have acquired with my own pets has laid a strong foundation for pet sitting. I have experience with various health problems as well as some experience with dog training and behavioral issues. In the fall of 2008, I was fortunate to attend a Paw Medics seminar presented by Vince Obsitnik, DVM, from The Animal Medical Clinic in Peachtree City (www.TheAnimalMedicalClinic.com), which was most informative. It covered topics on basic pet first aid for pet owners ranging from handling injured animals to pet CPR.
I am also fortunate to have worked with Anne Hudson, an animal behaviorist and dog trainer. I have had great success with my Hurricane Katrina dog Gracie using Anne's positive training methods. In September 2005 after the hurricane, I had the opportunity to spend a week in Gonzalez, Louisiana, volunteering with various animal rescue organizations, including The Humane Society of the United States and the ASPCA (among many others), working with Hurricane Katrina animal survivors. Gracie has been a challenge, but a challenge made much easier because of Anne's help. Anne has since moved away, but I am happy to recommend professional dog trainer Robin Sockness of My Best Buddy Dog Training and Behavior Solutions. You can find her at www.MyBestBuddyDogTraining.com.
I love what I do, and I am happy to provide a service to people in my community. For me, it is all about what's in the best interest of the animals – it’s that simple.
